From the roots of disaster response to a steadfast commitment in reshaping Dinagat's future, the Barug Dinagat Foundation emerged not just as a beacon of hope but as architects of lasting change. Comprising esteemed leaders across various domains, our journey is a testament to unwavering dedication to uplift Dinagatnons beyond adversity.

Yet, amidst achievements, one cycle persists: the Sandwich Economy. An ethos ingrained in Filipino culture, where the working adult juggles the care of both elderly parents and children, perpetuating a cycle of financial struggle. While a beautiful display of familial care, it holds generations captive in poverty.

​

The solution, though within grasp, remains daunting. To address these challenges at their core, the foundation delved deep into the nucleus of society. Through immersive engagement, they dissected the issues at the cellular level, uncovering three fundamental barriers: Lack of Education and Training, Nutritional Deficiency, and Limited Cash Flow.

​

Hence, the birth of the Zero Unemployment (ZU) Initiative.

​

At its core, the ZU Initiative aims to immerse within communities, identifying and organizing unemployed and low-income individuals. This unified force will explore viable livelihoods, gaining legal recognition and guidance through governmental avenues. Equipped with training and entrepreneurial skills, they'll access support, including funding, government projects, and NGO interventions.

But it doesn't end there. Sustainability is key. Partnering with the Kalihukan sa Panaad Marketing Cooperative (KPMACO), the initiative secures markets for their products, alleviating the burden from the community. This holistic cycle aims to empower families, enabling them to care for their elders, educate their children, and break free from the constraints of the Sandwich Economy.
